First off, what is Nearpod?
Nearpod helps teachers make any lesson interactive whether in the classroom or virtual. The concept is simple. A teacher can create interactive presentations that can contain quizzes, Polls, Videos, Collaborate Boards, and more. You can access thousands of pre-built K-12 standards-aligned lessons or upload your existing lessons and make them interactive.
My entire online French curriculum lives in Nearpod! (If you happen to be a French teacher, reach out!) A quick video for you to know how to set it up. Then, some tips on how to use it are below!
2 Easy Ways to Use Nearpod in YOUR classroom!
Asynchronous Lesson Presentation
Provide interactive learning experiences for asynchronous learners! I actually teach the knowledge and skills my students need by including the following types of activities:
Video, Audio, Collaboration boards, Quizzes, Polls, Open-ended questions
The sequencing I use is this: Present video content (think Youtube!). Follow with interactive authentic images, (like a train ticket) and prompt students with open-ended questions. Then, offer a matching game followed by polls and quizzes.
Resource Repository
Using the app to distribute resources is another simple way of using it in the classroom. You can fill your presentation with images or worksheets and ask the students to use the Students Notes Feature to save the presentation to their drive to access the information later when studying for an exam or completing homework.
Wondering what Online Teacher Coach can do to help you do just that? A BRAND new product/training offering has been added! Customized lesson plans + Training HOW to use them! Yes, you heard me right. For teachers in grades 7-12 in all subjects (except math...sorry!) we will create YOUR digital lessons AND train you how to use them in both brick and mortar AND online courses!
Imagine taking your worksheets, PowerPoints, and quizzes and turning them into self-graded learning objects!
Saves you time.
Saves you work.
Engages students!
p.s. Don't forget that Nearpods can be excellent emergency sub plans!
