Are you in the final teaching days of 2021? Trying to make it through December without pulling out your hair?
Here is an idea teaching plan for your classroom that takes no preparation and makes the STUDENTS do the work!
HOT SEAT
Hot Seat is a classroom activity in which a character or characters, played by the teacher or a student, are interviewed by the rest of the group. This activity invites students to recount a specific event, explore motivation and multiple perspectives/experiences related to a theme, topic, event, or idea. Or, for French teachers, one might create a theme. (Family, food, etc.)
Classmates will bombard the "hot seat" student/group with questions and this person must answer them as quickly as possible. (This is great for French teachers to ask French learners to practice questions!)
What about upper levels of French? Well, why not play hot seat with a unit on Astérix, TinTin, or Le Petit Nicolas? Or, maybe you want to focus on a holiday theme? The New Year is a great idea! Prompt students to bombard with questions related to Le Nouvel An! Or, maybe do it just in time for Mardi Gras!
Anyway, the idea is to MAKE STUDENTS DO THE WORK! (We know you need some more coffee and a much-deserved break!) You've done an amazing job teaching in 2021 and the world appreciates you. (Though they may not say it.) I appreciate you!
